Obituary

DUDLEY –David J. Avery, 49, of Dudley, died Friday, May 3, 2013 in his home.
He leaves a brother, Paul W. Avery and his friend Susan Swift of Fitchburg; a sister, Lori A. Fairbanks and her husband Stephen of Worcester; 2 uncles, Robert Rock of Dudley and James Avery and his wife Rachel of Pensacola, FL; 2 nephews, Brian Avery and his wife Diana of Milford and Zachary Fairbanks of Worcester; a niece, Amelia Fairbanks of Worcester; and cousins.
He was born in Webster, the son of William H. and Dolores T. (Stawasz) Avery and was a lifelong resident. He graduated from Shepherd Hill Regional High School in 1981.
Mr. Avery was a cutter and shift manager at National Envelope Company in Worcester for 20 years. He had been a volunteer firefighter and an EMT on the Dudley Fire Department for 20 years. He was an ardent fan of the Boston Red Sox and enjoyed collecting baseball cards.
Memorial calling hours will be held Friday, May 10, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM in Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main St. Webster. Donations in his name may be made to the Dudley Firefighters Association, 128 West Main Street, Dudley, MA 01571.
