TARPON SPRINGS, FL - James J. Fox, Jr., 77, died recently in a long-term care facility in Tarpon Springs, FL, following a long illness.
He was born in Lowell, the son of Margaret M. (McCrossen) and James J. Fox. He spent his early life in Lowell, and then moved to Chelmsford, where he resided for many years.
Mr. Fox wintered in Florida beginning in 2004 until January 2007, when he suffered a debilitating stroke that incapacitated him for the remainder of his life.
He graduated from Lowell High School in 1954 and received a degree from Merrimack College in North Andover in 1964, with a major in Business Administration. He also attended Northeastern University in Boston.
He was employed for many years by the Whitman Co. in Revere as a Senior Buyer and last worked as a Health Aid for Nursing Services in Salem, NH, prior to his retirement.
Mr. Fox is survived by three sons, Joseph, James and Gary, all of Andover; and several grandchildren; a cousin, Gerald D. Fox of Walpole and his wife Elfreda. Also the late Alice O'Connor, his good friend for many years.
In Mr. Fox’ memory, donations may be made to St. Mary’s Church in Chelmsford, MA, where he attended for many years; The American Heart Assn. or a charity of your choice.
A memorial service will be held in late spring and will be announced.
