Obituary

Hudson, MA
Ernestine (Cabral) Teixeira ("Ernie") passed away peacefully at Ichabod Washburn Hospice Residence in Worcester under the compassionate care of Holy Trinity Hospice. She had suffered a bad fall at home on April 25th at 61 Cottage Street in Hudson where she resided for 56 years. She was the loving wife and lifelong soul mate of the late John S. Teixeira ("Tex") a retired Hudson Firefighter. She leaves her son, John Teixeira ("Johnny") of Hudson and her daughter, Linda Teixeira ("Lindy") of Hudson. She also leaves her brother, Alfred Cabral ("Al") of Hudson and her sister, Juliet Quinn ("Jay") of Hudson.
She also leaves her nephews, David Quinn ("Davey"), James Quinn ("Jimmy"), Joseph Cabral ("Joey"), Paul Cabral (her "Pauly Doll") and a niece, Kathleen Cabral ("Kathi") all whom she loved as her own children; a step-niece, Patricia Quinn ("Pat") and great-nephews, Connor and Camron Quinn; and a great-niece, Krystal LaBranche. Her late parents were Jose and Mercedes Cabral of Hudson, owners of the former Lisbon Club Bar & Restaurant.
Ernie was a cafeteria worker at the "old high school" in Hudson until her retirement. She loved the ocean and vacationing on Cape Cod, especially at her seasonal trailer in Eastham. Her fondest memories were those times spent with family, especially Christmas Eve. She loved the quiet moments at home watching Soap Operas (her "stories") on TV and doing word search puzzles. She was a great cook and avid baker of goodies, especially her chocolate chiffon cake, lemon meringue pie, cherry wink cookies and cream puffs. If you had walked up the driveway and peeked in her kitchen window chances are you would have seen her with her apron on standing at either the sink or stove.
Although it has been a grueling two weeks for her family, she has left behind a lifetime of memories that will comfort them in their sorrow and give them strength. At the age of 94 and one month shy of her 95th birthday, it is without question that she had a wonderful life.
Memorial donations may be made to the Bunky Walton Fund in her memory and that of her beloved Miniature Pinscher (her little "MAUS") of 14 years who predeceased her this past October. There truly was a special bond between them. We always knew one would follow the other but we never knew in which order. It is for certain that the two of them were reunited and crossed Rainbow Bridge to heaven together. (THE BUNKY WALTON FUND, INC., 64 Oak Hill Road, Westford, Massachusetts 01886)
