New Bedford - Lawrence H. “Larry” Genereux-Tavares, age 58 years, died unexpectedly on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Ana Tavares of New Bedford. Born in Acushnet, the son of Eva (Kenny) and Lawrence H. Genereux, Sr., he lived in this area his entire life except during his time in the military. Mr. Genereux-Tavares proudly served our country during the Vietnam War in the United States Navy. After his service, Larry worked as a Laborer at Tegra Medical, formerly known as American Medical Instruments Inc.. Known as the comedian of the family, Larry loved God and sports. He also enjoyed going out to eat with his family and friends.
His survivors include his wife Ana; his 3 children: Theresa Macedo, Lawrence H. Genereux and Scott Genereux, all of New Bedford; 4 step-children: Melissa Genereux of Fall River, Kelly Genereux, Manuel Genereux and Justine Genereux, all of New Bedford; as well as 14 grandchildren and several siblings, nieces and nephews.
In accordance with his wishes, Larry will be cremated. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford.
