Mahaley Zelley Purvis Hiers, 74, of Enigma died Friday, May 3, 2013, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 6, 2013, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Jimmy Wayne Hiers will officiate with burial to follow in New River Holiness Church Cemetery. Chris Budd, Brandon Hiers, Steve Hiers, Greg Hiers, Fred Hiers and Charles Hiers will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Hiers and Trace Hiers. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 5, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Hiers was born on February 24, 1939 in Berrien County and was the daughter of Arlie Purvis and Sally Futch Purvis, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Fred Hiers, Sr., who died in 1991; one brother, James Purvis; and one sister, Lois Boyd. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Hiers is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, William F. Hiers, Jr. and Sheila Wines of Enigma, Charles A. and Sherrie Hiers of Enigma and Greg P. and Irma Hiers of Lakeland, Florida; two daughters and one son-in-law, Vickie L. Hiers of Enigma and Patricia L. and Jose Montoya of Miami, Florida; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Clarence Purvis of Tifton and Bo and Lit Purvis of Tifton; one sister and brother-in-law, Thelma and Curt Curtis of Plant City, Florida; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
