Ronald J. Giguere, Sr. (retired BFD) age 74 of East Bridgewater died Tuesday April 30, 2013 at Falmouth Hospital following a brief illness. Ron was born and raised in Brockton a son of the late Elzear and Florence (Maher) Giguere and had lived in East Bridgewater since 1965. He was also a summer resident at Peter’s Pond on Sandwich. A 1956 graduate of Brockton High School, Ron also received his associate degree in fire science from Massasoit Community College. During the Vietnam era he served in the US Marine Corps.
In 1999, Ron retired from the Brockton Fire Department after 30 years of service and was proud to have been a member of the departments honor guard. He will be remembered as a talented chef, cooking many meals at the fire house, at home and at many social events. He had also worked part-time for Franklin Auto Supply for many years.
Ron loved the City of Brockton and due to his social nature, he enjoyed belonging to several clubs including Club National, Bertocci, Polish White Eagles and Conti Clubs and also the Brockton Firefighters Relief Association. He especially cherished time spent with his family and friends.
Ron is survived by his wife Faith C. (Whitney) Giguere and was the father of Doreen M. Giguere and her fiancé Joseph Rollins of E. Bridgewater, Lt. Ronald J, Giguere, Jr. (BFD) and his wife Mary-Ann of Bridgewater; Gregory J. of Stoughton, Brian P. of E. Bridgewater and Jeanine D. Giguere of Holbrook. He leaves four grandchildren Stephanie Tonello, Gregory Giguere, Jr., Cameron Giguere and Jacob Rollins and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of Sandra Rullo of Windham, Maine and the late Richard Giguere.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton Sunday 4-7 pm. The procession will gather at the funeral home on Monday at 9:30 am followed by a funeral Mass in Christ the King Church at 10:30 am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
