Obituary

CHICOPEE – Mary A. (St. John) Rodak, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, April 27, 2013. She passed into Eternal Life at Mount Saint Vincent Care Center in Holyoke surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born in Holyoke on November 24, 1926, a beloved daughter of the late Rene and Mary (Jaronczyk) St. John and was a graduate of Holyoke High School. She had lived in Holyoke for many years before moving to Chicopee in 1955. She was employed as a sales clerk for many years at the Liberty Bakery and was a communicant of Saint Anne Church, both in Chicopee. She enjoyed walking her dogs, most especially around the Holyoke Reservoir. She was a loving woman who adored her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Kasmir “Kas” Rodak who was Called Home on August 4, 2003. They were married on April 17, 1948 at Saint Jerome Church in Holyoke and were blessed with over 55 years of happiness together. She leaves her loving son, Michael J. Rodak and his wife, Amanda, of Ludlow; her three cherished grandchildren, Alesia Rodak, Cameron Rodak and Colton Murphy; her two dear brothers, William St. John and his wife, Kathy, of Holyoke and Fred St. John and his wife, Velma, of Redding, CA; her three dear sisters, Barbara Caron and her husband, Richard, of Longmeadow, Irene “Ollie” Kelly of South Hadley, and Connie Brain of Willoughby, OH; and her many dear nephews and nieces. She was also predeceased by her dear brother in law, Edward Kelly. Her relatives and friends are invited to a Service of Committal on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. There are no visiting hours at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Alzheimers Association, 264 Cottage Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
