Johanna Gima, 85, of Scott Township, PA., peacefully fell asleep in the Lord on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at home surrounded by her family. Her loving husband, John Gima, preceded her in death on August 1, 1989.
Born Johanna Moskwa in Scott Township, she was the daughter of the late Ambrose and Sophie (Siniawa) Moskwa, and a 1946 graduate of Scott High School. Before starting a family, she was employed by Baumel Dress, Olyphant, and Otis Elevator Co., Yonkers, NY.
She was a loving wife, and mother. She will be remembered for her friendship and spirituality, endearing words of encouragement, and her gentle, kind, and loving ways. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She will forever be in their hearts.
She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, crocheting, sewing, and upholstering, cooking, baking, and honoring ethnic tradition.
She was a faithful member of All Saints Orthodox Church, Olyphant, and a former member Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, Yonkers, NY.
Surviving are a two daughters; Janet, Scott Township, and Joan and fiancé Robert Pascavage of Scott Township; brother: Daniel; several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews in multiple states. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Irene.
Funeral services will be at All Saints Orthodox Church, at the corner of Willow & Grant Streets, Olyphant, on Monday, April 29, at 9:30 a.m., followed by burial at All Saints Orthodox Cemetery in Peckville.
Visiting hours will be at All Saints Orthodox Church, at the corner of Willow & Grant Streets, Olyphant, on Sunday, April 28, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., with a Parastas service at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Michael P. Glinsky Funeral Home, Inc., 129 Grant St., Olyphant.
Due to the nature of visitation in the church the family is requesting in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Johanna’s memory to All Saints Orthodox Church, Olyphant.
