Mr. Frederick S. Haerer Jr., age 82, of North Reading for over fifty years passed away April 23rd at the Whidden Memorial Hospital in Everett following a twenty year long and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. He was the beloved husband of Juanita M. (White) and together they shared more than 52 years of marriage. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Frederick and Florence (Jackson) Haerer.
Fred was a retired bar manager and worked for thirty years at Kitty's Restaurant in North Reading. He was a proud United States Air Force veteran of the Korean War honorably serving from 1951 to 1955. For many years Fred loved spending time with his family and friends at his second home on Newfound Lake in New Hampshire where they enjoyed boating and being together creating many cherished memories. Fred also enjoyed reading, following all of Boston's professional sports teams and listening to country music.
Along with his beloved wife Juanita, Fred is survived by their children, James Haerer of Andover, Kim Callahan of Haverhill and Denise Haerer of So. Yarmouth. He was the loving grandfather of Nicole, Tammie, Jonathan, Dustin, Shayne, Sabrina, Joshua and Jacob and loving great grandfather of Sydnie. He was the brother of Deane Haerer and Dorothy Rounds both of Texas and is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 374 Main St., WILMINGTON, Monday, April 29th, at 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Theresa of Lisieux Church, 63 Winter St., North Reading, at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Dello Russo Funeral Home will be held on Sunday from 3 thru 7 p.m. Services will conclude with military honors and burial at Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.
