Mrs. Barbara Ann (Hughes) Fay, a resident of Medford for more than 50 years and beloved wife of John W. Fay, died at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford on Sunday, April 21, 2013. She was 81 years old.
Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on June 19, 1931, she was the beloved daughter of the late James and Margaret (McCarthy) Hughes. Mrs. Fay was a graduate of Cambridge High School and had attended Boston College for three years. She enjoyed knitting and loved to watch Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. Above all, Barbara was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Besides her beloved husband, John, she will be very sorely missed by her loving children; Nancy A. Fay of Woburn and John J. Fay of Medford, grandson; Ricky Parrino of Medford, siblings; James F. Hughes of Ocean Side, NY, Donald Hughes of Greensboro, NC, Kevin Hughes of Buffalo Grove, IL, Eileen Labrecque of Peabody and the late Mary Connolly and Geraldine Kluge. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral was held from the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Saturday, April 27, 2013, at 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 10:30 AM. Many relatives and friends respectfully attended. Visiting hours were held on Friday, April 26, 2013, from 4 to 8 PM. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
