TEWKSBURY: Edwinia M. (Carey) Middleton, age 61, a resident of Tewksbury for over 20 years, died Wednesday, July 21, 2004 at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington.
She was the wife of James H. Middleton, Jr. with whom she celebrated their 31st wedding anniversary on June 30th.
Born in Cambridge on February 5, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Isabelle (Marsh) Carey.
Mrs. Middleton was raised in West Medford and attended Medford schools.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed as an Associate Dean of Admissions and the Director of Financial Aid at the former Bradford College in Bradford, Mass.
Mrs. Middleton previously worked as a Financial Aid Administrator for Tufts University, Babson College and Roxbury Community College.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by 3 daughters; Juandamarie Gikandi and her husband Simon of Princeton, NJ, Ronnette A. Taylor-Lawrence of Tewksbury and her husband Ronald J. Lawrence and Tarsha-Nicole Taylor of Tewksbury; 3 sons; Richard J. Taylor of Tewksbury, Eduardo D. Taylor of Malden and David S. Middleton of Reno, NV; 21 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; 5 sisters; Ramona (Cary) Harper of Long Island, NY, Virginia (Carey) Davis of Roxbury, Letha (Carey) Roberts of Medford, Cheryl (Cary) Freeman of Bradenton, FL and Adrian (Cary) Hughes of Jacksonville, FL; 1 brother; David Cary of Baltimore, MD; also many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Jackie Cary formerly of Baltimore, MD.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, August 10th at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 1500 Andover St., Rte. 133, Tewksbury (978-851-6575). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the United Negro College Fund, Attn: Accounts Receivable, 8260 Willow Oaks Corporate Drive, P.O. Box 1044, Fairfax, VA 22031-8004 are suggested.
