Mr. Joseph T. Thomas, of Taunton, died Friday, April 19 in Morton Hospital following a brief illness. He was born in Taunton, the son of the late Tadrose and Rose (Khalil) Thomas. He was educated in Taunton and Fall River, and had been a city resident for most of his life. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed by the City of Taunton Street Department for many years. Joseph was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War, and also served as a Medic in the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was a communicant of St. Jude the Apostle Parish in Taunton.
He leaves: 1 sister: Sr. Jeannette Mary Thomas, R.S.M. of Bristol, R.I., and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was the brother of the late John “Yogi” Thomas, Rosalie Thomas, Mary Sarkes and Anne Sarkes.
Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Tuesday, April 23 at 9:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Jude the Apostle Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Monday, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M.
