Vito Amato, age 88, of Medford formerly of Somerville, passed away Wednesday, August 4th, following a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Margaret (Palermo) Amato. Born in Boston he was the son of the late Guiseppe and Giovanna (Locastro) Amato.
Mr. Amato was a Medford resident for over sixty-five years. He was extremely devoted to his family and work. He worked for many years as tile contracter, owning and operating his company, Amato Tile of Somerville.Vito is survived by his children, Joseph Amato and his wife Rose Marie of Medford, Joanne LaGreca and her husband Joseph of Somerville. He is also survived by his grandchildren Joseph Amato Jr. of Medford, Gina Eldridge of No. Reading, Jeffrey LaGreca of Somerville, Steven LaGreca of Woburn and two great grandchildren Carli Marie and Anthony Eldridge.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home 306 Main St. Medford, Saturday at 9 AM. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner St. Medford/Somerville at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Friday 6 thru 9. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
