Glenda Marie Dees Davis Long, 56, went home to her final resting place on Thursday, April 18, 2013, at her residence after a battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 21, 2013, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. John Thomas will officiate with burial to follow in Oakey Grove Church Cemetery in Berrien County. Jody Long, Michael Long, Wesley Long, John Thomas, Michael Hayes and Chris Griffin will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 20, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals and on Sunday, April 21, 2013, from 4:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Long was born on July 18, 1956 in Tifton and was the daughter of Omagene “Jean” Rooks Dees of Tifton and the late James Marvin “J.M.” Dees, Sr. In addition to her father, she was also preceded in death by the father of her three sons, Wendell Davis. She was a member of Tifton’s First Assembly of God and she was a registered nurse.
In addition to her mother, Mrs. Long is survived by her husband, Ronnie Long of Lenox; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Adam and Becky Davis, Scott and Heather Davis and Patrick Davis; six step-sons; five grandchildren; twelve step-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Jimmy and Pat Dees, Larry and Janice Dees and Keith and Vicky Dees; one sister, Kathy Eckert; and one “chosen” sister, Mary Ellen Thomas.
