Obituary

Ernest D. “Ernie” Lamothe 86, of Wrentham Manor died Tuesday at Milford Regional Hospital. He was the husband of Blanche (Chamberland) Lamothe. Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Donat and Emma (Godin) Lamothe.
A Bellingham resident since 1949, he worked for the Highway Department in the Town of Bellingham for twenty years before retiring in 1989. He had previously worked in various textile mills as a shipper and receiver. He was an Army Veteran of WWII serving in Europe. He attained the rank of Sergeant and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the World Victory Medal, and the American Theater of Occupation Ribbon. He was a member of the Bellingham VFW Post # 7272, the AARP, and the former Assumption Parish St. Vincent de Paul Society which he served as secretary and president. He was also a member and past president and honorary president of the Union St. Jean Baptiste Council Lafayette # 439. Mr. Lamothe was an avid Duckpin and Tenpin bowler. He enjoyed baseball and basketball and was an avid Canadian hockey fan.

Besides his wife, he leaves four daughters Alice Bryda and her husband Frank of Woonsocket, Jeanne Milius of Milford, Claire Hall and her husband Rick of Longmeadow, MA and Pauline Lorange and her husband Rene of Milford, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He was also the brother of the late Edgar, and Roger Lamothe and Doris Heroux.

His funeral with visitation will be held Saturday at 8:00AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St. Woonsocket with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart Church, Olo St. Woonsocket. Burial with Military Honors will be held in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery in Bellingham. In lieu of flowers, donations to Educational Resources for Children Inc., (ERFC) 50 Post Office Rd., Enfield, CT 06082, in his memory would be appreciated.
