Hampstead, N.H. — Martin J. Kenney, Sr., 84, died Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, N.H.
Born in Boston, Mass., he was the son of Patrick and Nora (Connell) Kenney. He served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard before receiving his honorable discharge. For many years, he was employed with the MBTA as a track repair man prior to his retirement. He was an avid Bruins fan, belonged to the Carmen’s Union, Local 589, the Italian American Social Club of Mattapan and also the Castle Island Association.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marilyn A. (O’Leary) Kenney; his five children, Martin J. Jr., and his wife, Rosalyn Kenney, William P. and his wife, Karen Kenney, Michael P. and his wife, Sherry Kenney, Julie and her husband, Stephen Green, and Timothy J. and his wife, Cari Kenney; one brother, William C. Kenney; 10 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Mr. Kenney was predeceased by his son Christophe; his brother, John; and sisters, Mary Portley and Catherine Arsenault.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours for family and friends will be held on Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc., 233 Lawrence St., Methuen, MA, 01844. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 11 a.m., in Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish/St. Theresa’s Church in Methuen, with burial to follow in The Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence, Mass.
