Edward J. Woods, age 73, of Brockton formerly of Somerville, died Monday April 15, 2013at Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital. He was the loving husband Lynne Marie
(Driscoll) Woods. Born and raised in Somerville, Edward was the son of the late Edward J. and Anne (Fury) Woods. Edward has been a resident of Brockton for 46 years. He proudly served in the Army during the Vietnam era and was stationed at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. He was a graduate of Stonehill College.
Edward was an intelligent, loving, honorable man with a strong will and great sense of humor, who loved his family dearly. He was the best friend to his wife and a wonderful dad to his children.
Edward worked for many years for Lucent Technology; after retirement he followed his lifelong passion to be part of Law Enforcement. With the support of his family and many friends and at the age of 58 he joined the Plymouth County Deputy Sheriffs Dept. where he was most proud wearing his uniform. He has enjoyed every minute of the past 14 years. He enjoyed ice skating and playing hockey and baseball;l and took great pride in keeping a neat yard, as well as always having a project and more to work on.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children Daniel J. Woods of Stoughton, Mishele M.
Woods, Lynnann Woods and her husband Keith Krepon and Kelly Woods and her husband Jeremy Duby all of Brockton; four grandchildren Khory and Kourtney Conway, Amanda and Rebecca Duby all of Brockton; a niece Donna Ford and Susanne Swain, as well as a great niece and nephew.
A Memorial gathering will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton on Saturday April 20, from 12-3pm.
