Obituary

CHICOPEE - Ronald H. Green, 67, of Chicopee was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, April 16, 2013. He passed into Eternal Life at his home after a brief courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family and all the memories he loved and cherished. He was born in Holyoke on May 9, 1945, a beloved son of the late Milton Jay and Stella (Tryba) Green. He was raised in Holyoke, graduated from Holyoke High School and lived in the city for many years before moving to Chicopee in 1972. He was employed for 24 years as an Industrial Engineer for the United States Postal Service Bulk Mail Center on Fiberloid Street in the Indian Orchard section of Springfield and retired in 2005. Ron truly enjoyed his retirement by spending time traveling, puttering around his home and yard, enjoying his 1964 Classic Corvette that he won recently and spoiling his three canine "granddogs", Charlie, Teddy and Sunny. Above all, Ron truly cherished his family and was always ready to help them or his many friends at a moments notice. He served the City of Chicopee as a Water Commissioner for several years and was a faithful communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. He leaves his devoted wife and best friend, Diane M. (Belanger) Green. They were married on June 24, 1972 at Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee and were blessed with over 40 years of happiness together. He also leaves his loving son and daughter-in-law, Jay R. Green and his wife, Pamela, of Pittsfield; his loving brother, Richard M. Green and his wife, Mary Ann, of Wycoff, NJ; his loving sister-in-law of the Belanger family, Jan Kandilakis and her husband, Marty, of Chicopee; his loving brother-in-law of the Belanger family, Dennis Belanger and his wife, Doreen, of Estero, FL; and his many dear nephews and nieces.
