Gloria A. Turko, 91, of Derry, NH, died Monday, April 15, 2013 surrounded by her loving family at the Elliot Hospital in Manchester, NH. She was born on January 4, 1922 in NYC, NY, a daughter of the late Edward and Alice (O’Hara) Dingivan. Mrs. Turko was a resident of Derry for the past year, formerly living in Londonderry, NH. At one time she was the Director of Art for Mademoiselle Magazine in New York City. She was a communicant of St. Jude Parish in Londonderry and was a member of the Ladies Guild at the church.
She is survived by two daughters, Kathy Ward and her husband Wesley and Eileen Turko of Rochester, NY, five grandchildren, William C. McKandless, Heather McKandless, Amy McKandless, Michael Ward and Jennifer Ward-Brazee, as well as several great grandchildren, and many friends that she considered her family. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph Turko in 1986 and also by her daughter, Patricia McKandless in 1987.
Calling hours were held on Friday, April 19, 2013 from 4 -6 pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Road, Londonderry. A Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, April 20th at 10:00am in St. Jude Parish, 435 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. A luncheon followed at the home of Helen Martin, 3 Hazelnut Lane, Londonderry. Private burial was in Mt. St. Mary’s Cemetery, Flushing, NY. Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Turko’s memory to the St. Jude Parish Ladies Guild, 435 Mammoth Road, Londonderry, NH 03053.
