Obituary

Joan (Vodoklys) Fleming, of Manchester, NH died April 13, 2013, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
She was born in Concord, MA, the daughter of Frank and Mollie Vodoklys. She graduated from Framingham State College.
She began her teaching career in Maynard, MA and was a teacher in Alexandria, VA until her retirement. She supervised many student teachers from several of the surrounding Alexandria universities. She was coordinator for Colin Powell’s America’s Promise tutoring program and was selected for Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers.
Joan enjoyed gardening, golfing, traveling, reading and art. Above all else, she cherished time spent with her family.
Joan is survived by her husband, John M. Fleming; her sisters, Catherine of W. Boylston, MA, and Virginia of Newburyport, MA; many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her brother, Frank Vodoklys of Randolph, NJ in 2012.
A memorial Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at the Parish of the Transfiguration. Committal prayers and burial followed in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Norris Cotton Cancer Center, 1 Medical Center Drive, Lebanon, NH 03756 or the Monastery of the Precious Blood, 700 Bridge St, Manchester, NH 03104.
