ATWELL, Stanley Richard “Dick”, 72, of Louisville, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2013.
He had been the owner of Atwell Auto Parts in Owensboro, KY until 1983, after which he worked as a sales person for Clarcor. Dick was a 1959 graduate of Manual High School, where he played baseball on two championship teams. He truly enjoyed playing baseball and continued to play throughout his adult life. He loved the Kentucky Wildcats and was one of their biggest fans. He was a member of Ormsby Heights Baptist Church.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Virginia Atwell; and sister, Frances “Dee Dee” Golt.
He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Pat Atwell and their daughters, Robin Atwell and Wendy Fryer. He is also survived by his granddaughter whom he truly adored, Susannah Rae Fryer, who called him “Daddy D”.
His service will be 11am Wednesday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway, with burial at 3pm EST in Rosehill-Elmwood Cemetery in Owensboro, KY. Visitation will be 2-8pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
