Frances (Previte) Abate, of Medford, died Monday at the Wingate Nursing Home, Andover. She was 91. Mrs. Abate was born and raised in Boston’s North End, the daughter of the late Pietro and the late Catherine (Catanese) Previte.
A Medford resident for more than 70 Years, she was a dedicated wife and mother.
She was the beloved wife of the late Carmelo Charles Abate who died in 1988. She was a devoted mother to Dr. Joseph Abate and his wife Maureen of Winchester, Peter Abate and his wife Kathryn of Reading and Lucille Abate Lyons of Billerica. She was a loving grandmother to Maura Abate Welch of Newburyport, Beth Bacon of CA, Joseph Abate of Winchester, Greg Abate of Medford, Stephen Abate of AZ, Gary Abate of Haverhill, Karen Galvin of Reading, Susan Shea of Haverhill, John Lyons of NH, Jeffrey Lyons of Billerica, Scott Lyons of Westford and a loving great grandmother of 19. She was a dear sister to Anna Abate of NJ, Frank Previte of Burlington, Anthony Previte of RI, Mildred Saia of Boston, the late Mary Mazzini and Natalie Saia.
Relatives and friends may visit Thursday from 4 - 8 at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford.A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, Friday at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
