Veda Clements Williams, 74, of Irwin County, Georgia, died April 13, 2013, at Palemon Gaskins Memorial Nursing Home in Ocilla.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Friday, April 19, 2013, at Big Creek Baptist Church in Irwinville with the Rev. Harris Johnson and the Rev. Wayne McCrimmon officiating. Interment will follow in the Clements Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8, Thursday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Williams was born August 2, 1938, in Irwin County to the late Emmett Elijah and Wilma Blount Clements. She graduated from Irwin County High School. She was a member of The Happy Three Trio as a teenager, where she developed a love of music. She taught piano lessons, wrote many songs, two of which will be shared at her service. She was a member of Big Creek Baptist church where she had served as a Sunday school teacher and also helped with organizing the first Vacation Bible School along with many other children’s activities.
She is survived by a daughter: Karen (Rudy) Bauer of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; a son: Greg (Shelia) Williams of Irwinville; six grandchildren: Amelia, Heather, Kayla and Keil Bauer all of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Jessica Williams of Atlanta and Garrett Williams of Irwinville; one brother: Lamar Clements of Irwin County, sisters: Vivian Farr of Charlotte, North Carolina and Rhonda Batts of Macon, along with many nieces and nephews. The family suggest that donations and memorials be made to Big Creek Baptist Church, P. O. Box 39, Mystic, Georgia, 31769.
