Obituary

CHICOPEE – Cecile M. (Beauregard) Therrien, 90, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee was Called Safely Home on Thursday, April 11, 2013. She passed into Eternal Life at the Soldiers Home in Holyoke surrounded by the care and comfort of her wonderful caregivers. She was born at home on Laurel Street in the Chicopee Falls section of Chicopee on June 8, 1922, a beloved daughter of the late Ulderic and Maria (Cusson) Beauregard. She was raised on Hawthorne Street in the Aldenville section of the city, graduated in 1941 from Cathedral High School and lived in Aldenville for her entire life. She furthered her education and in 1944, graduated from the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Springfield and began her career as a registered nurse. She was employed at Mercy for a brief time and in June of 1945, she enlisted in the United States Army. She served her country at Wakeman General Hospital during World War II, attaining the rank of First Lieutenant. She received the American Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. Following her military service, she returned to Chicopee and then continued her nursing career at Mercy Hospital. On April 19, 1951, she married her beloved husband and best friend, Conrad R. Therrien who was Called Home on September 11, 1996. Conrad and Cecile were blessed with over 45 years of happiness and raised four loving children together. Cecile was a longtime member of the Mercy Hospital Nursing School Alumni and a lifelong communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church. She was a loving woman who showered her family with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her dear brothers and sisters, Napoleon J. Beauregard, J. Roland “Bucky” Beauregard, Simone Gelinas, Gabrielle Lafleur and Helene Picard. She leaves her four loving children, Conrad R. Therrien, Jr. and his wife, Barbara, of Guthrie, OK, Dr. Marc V. Therrien and his wife, Kathy, of Reading, MA, Dr. Philip J. Therrien and his wife, Cynthia, of Little Silver, NJ and Beverly F. Partridge and her husband, William, of Groton, MA; her eight cherished grandchildren, Rusty Therrien and his wife, Teresa, Joe Therrien and his wife, Laci, Jackie Therrien, Allison Therrien, Lizzie Therrien, Jennifer Therrien, Justin Partridge and Garrett Partridge; her four cherished great-grandchildren, Madison and Rhaeley Therrien and Kylie and Paisley Therrien; her dear brother-in-law, Lionel A. Picard of Holyoke; and her many dear nephews and nieces. Her funeral will be held on Saturday morning, April 20, 2013 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial with Military Honors will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, April 19, 2013 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
