Ann M. (Furfaro) Nelson, age 78, of West Bridgewater, died April 12, 2013 at Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital following a period of failing health. She was the loving wife for 57 years of the late Kjell Everett Nelson. Ann was born and raised in Brockton, daughter of the late Domenic and Carrie (Florio) Furfaro. A 1952 graduate of Brockton High School, she was a longtime member of her classes Reunion Committee. For many years Ann worked for the City of Brockton in the Tax Collectors Office and retired from the School Department. She was a strong woman who met her many illnesses with courage and was passionate about her family, friends and home. A fun loving person, Ann enjoyed entertaining, dancing, playing cards and traveling with friends. She also enjoyed ceramics, baking, gardening and was a longtime member of the Catholic Mothers Organization.
Ann is survived by two daughters Terri Sullivan and her husband Jack of Berkley and Paula Garrels and her husband Allen of Brockton; three grandchildren, Eric and Andrew Garrels and Carrie Sullivan, and a brother Armand Furfaro of Brockton. She was the mother of the late Mark and Brian Nelson and sister of the late Frank Furfaro.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Monday 4-7pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home on Tuesday at 9:30am for a funeral mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 10:30am. Burial will follow in Melrose Cemetery.
