Obituary

Thomas J. Keigney, a 20 year resident of Melrose and formerly of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Wednesday April 10, 2013 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was 74 years old.

Tom was born in Boston on July 28, 1938, a son of the late Thomas Keigney and Ellen (Masterson) Keigney. He grew up in Charlestown where he attended Boston Public Schools. Tom was a proud Townie throughout his entire life. He enlisted into the United States Army on September 27, 1954 and served his country with honor during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged on March 11, 1955 with the rank of Private. Tom worked for the Boston Catholic Cemetery Association for 20 years. Tom loved animals and enjoyed gardening.

Tom is the loving husband of the late Charlotte "Pat" (Flanagan) Keigney. He is the devoted father of Patsy Keigney-Rodrigues and her husband Carlos of Melrose, David Flanagan of Hull, and the father-in-law of Linda Flanagan of Scituate. He is the loving Papa to Kayla and Hayley Rodrigues of Melrose, David and Evan Flanagan of Scituate. He is the beloved brother of Jean Keigney of Norton, and the late Arthur and Peggy Keigney. He is also survived by many neices and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Tom's Funeral on Tuesday April 16, 2013 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main St. Melrose followed by his Funeral Mass in the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St. Wakefield at 10 A.M. Interment at Calvary Cemetery in Woburn. Visiting hours on Monday, April 15, 2013 from 4-8 P.M. in the funeral home.
