Obituary

Michael P. Attaya, 62, died March 31, 2013 after a long illness. He was the son of the late John O. Attaya and Shirley (MacNair) Attaya.
Recently of Largo, Fl. Michael was born in Boston, raised in Quincy, Weymouth, and Milton. He moved to New Bedford and Cape Cod where he worked with his father building and remoldeling houses.
He is survived by four siblings: Steven M. Attaya of Spring Hill, Fl, Robert Attaya of Middleboro, MA., John Attaya of Frederick, MD., Penthea (Attaya) Smith of Pocasset, MA., and long time companion, Carol Vaughan of New Bedford, MA. He also had many neices and nephews.
Aside from carpentry Mike had a strong interest in cars and was recently researching classic cars on the internet with the prospect of building one with a nephew and another friend.
Mike preferred warm weather, and he and Carol moved to Florida in 2007. Mike loved children and animals. Because of his sensitivity, humor, and patience they seemed drawn to him.
The family has arranged for a ceremony aboard the Cuttyhunk Ferry. The service will be held on Saturday, April 20th. Family and friends should meet at the New Bedford ferry dock located at 52 Fisherman's Wharf in New Bedford; preferably around 3 pm as the boat will depart at 3:30 pm for the ceremony at sea.
