Edward F. Kelly, age 65 of South Easton, died unexpectedly on Monday April 8, 2013. Ed was born on Long Island, NY the son of the late John J. and Louise V. (Faneuf) Kelly and moved to Massachusetts as a young boy. He was a 1965 graduate of Cardinal Spellman High School and received his Bachelors degree from Boston State College and Masters in education from Bridgewater State College. Following college, he served in the US Army National Guard.
Ed spent his 35 year career in education with the Brockton School Department starting as a teacher and then assistant principal at the BB Russell School. He was a 6th grade teacher and assistant principal at the Paine School where he was also a successful track coach. He was also an assistant principal and principal at St. Colman School and retired as principal from the Huntington School in 2006.
Ed enjoyed cooking, fine wines and collecting art. He also loved to travel especially trips to Bermuda. He was an avid follower of Brockton High School sports and enjoyed being a volunteer assistant to the basketball team. Most importantly, Ed treasured his time spent with his family and friends; especially his grandchildren. He loved being Grampy.
Ed is survived by the love of his life Ruth Ann “Ruthie” Simpson and her daughters Holly Simpson of Quincy, Rebecca Simpson Johnson and her husband Marc of Bridgewater and Terry Simpson of Quincy. He leaves four adoring grandchildren Leah, Matthew, Kyle and Jolene. He was also the brother of the late Eloise Kelly and nephew of Harry & Lee Kelly.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Friday 3-7 pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home on Saturday at 8 am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Edith Stein Church at 9 am. Burial in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
