Obituary

MARBLEHEAD - Everett W. Henderson, 95, formerly of Marblehead, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at the Kaplan Family Hospice house, Danvers, following a brief illness. He was the husband of lovely wife Priscilla (Sylvain) Henderson who predeceased him. They shared over 60 years of marriage.

Born in Rochester, New Hampshire in June 1917, he was the son of the late Daniel and Laura Henderson. Everett graduated from Salem High School in 1935 and from North Carolina State in 1939 where he was most proud to be a member of the Wolfpack football team. He remained an active member of the North Carolina State Alumni Association.

He retired from the General Electric Company in Lynn after more than 40 years of service as a hydraulic specialist. In the early years of his career he was fortunate to be involved in the SuperCharger Project.

He was a member of the Star King Lodge, AF & AM for over 70 years as well as the Tabernacle Congregational Church, UCC, both of Salem. As a resident of Marblehead for over 70 years prior to moving to the Bertram House in Swampscott in 2008, Mr. Henderson very active for years with the young people of Marblehead in various sports activities. Over the years he had maintained strong relationships with several of the young people he befriended many years ago.

Mr. Henderson is survived by his son James “Jay” Henderson and his wife Joan of Hamilton as well as five grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

His funeral service will be held Thursday, April 11, 2013 at 10 am at the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem. Visiting hours are Wednesday, 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Burial is in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead.
