Daniel J. Whalen, age 84, a 50-year resident of Winchester, passed away April 7, 2013. He was the beloved husband of the late Julie J. (Marines). Born in Chelsea, he was the son of the late Edward A. and Josephine (Sullivan) Whalen. A U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, Mr. Whalen was a prominent Boston attorney specializing in Workman’s Compensation Law for many years. In his spare time, he and his late wife, enjoyed membership in both of the local bridge clubs in Winchester. Mr. Whalen is survived by his children: Kathleen M. Whalen of Worcester, Kevin T. Whalen, Leslie A. LoPilato and husband Mark and Jeffrey P. Whalen, all of Winchester. He was also the devoted grandfather of Lauren and Alicia LoPilato and Jefferson Whalen. Visiting Hours will be held in the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester, on Wednesday, April 10 from 5-7PM. Relatives and friends kindly invited to attend.
