Obituary

Clyde Holyfield, 77, of Coffeeville, MS died Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Baptist Hospital East in Memphis, TN. Born in 1935 to Etta Mae and Frank Elias Holyfield in Simpson County, MS, he served in the US Army in Germany and spent four additional years in Army Reserves. He was the retired owner and operator of a trucking company, C H Express. He especially enjoyed gardening and fishing, and occasionally put his woodworking skills to use by making rockers and birdhouses. Mr. Holyfield was a Baptist, but he was a faithful attender of Coffeeville Church of Christ for many years.

Services are planned for Monday, April 8, 2013 at 3 PM at Coffeeville Church of Christ with Bro. Don Roberson officiating. Visitation will be from 1 until 3 PM prior to the service. Burial will be in Coffeeville City Cemetery with Reagan Holyfield, Bryan Holyfield, Caleb Holyfield, Bob Swanson, Tony Carmichael, and Leon Strickland serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Gill, Derrick Gallardo, Clinton Gallardo, Jacob Carmichael, Carl Holyfield, Hal Vaughn, John Wayne Purdy, Bobby Morgan, and Billy Turner.

Mr. Holyfield is survived by his wife, Mary Woods Holyfield of Coffeeville, MS; two daughters, Melissa "Lisa" Swanson (Bob) of Brighton, CO and Sandra Carmichael (Tony) of Coffeeville, MS; one son, Michael Clyde (Patsy) Holyfield of Siberia, Russia; one sister, Frankie Contas of New York; two brothers, Carl Holyfield of Magee, MS and Tommy Holyfield of Mendenhall, MS; twelve grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
