DUXBURY: Mary J. (Harold) Keating, 84, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at the Miriam Boyd Parlin Residence following a brief illness.
She was born in Brighton on March 1, 1929 the daughter of the late James J. Harold and Blanche M. (Hayes) Harold.
Mary is survived by her loving and devoted daughters, Maryanne Keating Noll and her husband Richard of Plymouth, Kathleen Maura Aurelio and her husband David of Wayland and Jacqueline Marie Keating-Madden of Marshfield. She was the sister of Margaret Norton and her husband Joseph of Ashland. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the wife of the late John M. Keating who died in January of 2007.
Mary spent her formative years in Waltham and attended the St. Charles school system and graduated from St. Charles High School. She received her Associates Degree in Secretarial Studies from Bryant and Stratton College in Boston. She began her career after college as an Executive Secretary at the State House on Beacon Hill for the Senate Majority Leader. For many years, she was the Executive Secretary for the Director of Public Works for the Town of Wellesley before retiring. She and John raised their daughters in Wayland and resided here for over 40 years before retiring to Duxbury 22 years ago. She was an active communicant of St Zepherins Church and the Womens Club of the church before moving to Duxbury. While residing in Duxbury, she was a member of the Duxbury Senior Citizens Club and enjoyed all the activities they offered especially playing cards with her friends and the dinner club. She and her family summered at their cottage in Marshfield where Mary loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family was the center of her life and she enjoyed the time they spent together walking and going to the beach.
Visitations will be held on Sunday, April 7, 2013 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Rd (Off Rte 30), Wayland.
Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Monday, April 8, 2013 at 9:00 am followed by her Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 am at the Good Shepherd Parish at St. Zepherins Church, 99 Main Street (Rte 27), Wayland.
Interment will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at 11:30 am at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
