Obituary

SALEM- Francis J. Massero, 71, husband of Nancy Ann (Condon) Massero, died on his 71st birthday, Friday, July 30, 2004 in the Salem Hospital following a long illness.

Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Albert F. And Albina (Gauthier) Massero.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed for 17 years as the building services manager at Wilmington Woods Nursing Home, Wilmington. He previously worked in the same capacity for 25 years at the North Shore Children’s Hospital in Salem.

A resident of Salem for most of his life, he was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church, Salem. Active in scouting for many years, he was a Scout Master for Cub Scout Pack 70 and Boy Scout Troop 90, both in Salem. He enjoyed square dancing and was a member of the Shindiggers of Danvers.

Besides his wife, with whom he shared 48 years of marriage, Mr. Massero is survived by two sons, Thomas R. Massero and James F. Massero, both of Salem, one daughter and son-in-law, Christina A. “Tina” and Mark Zolla of Salem, four grandchildren, Jamie Ann Zolla, Jeffrey Francis Zolla, Christopher James Massero, Steven Robert Massero, all of Salem, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Louise and Robert Glynn of Portland, Maine, Theresa and Herbert Thibeault of Lynn, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Carol Massero of Alfred, Maine, George “Ted” and Jean Massero of Peabody and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Albert Massero and Alice White.

His funeral service will be held Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004 at 10 am from the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem, followed by a funeral Mass at 11 am at the immaculate Conception Church, Salem. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Monday, 4 to 8 pm. Burial is in St. Cemetery, Salem.
