Henry Joseph Harnage, Jr., 86, of Tifton died Thursday, April 4, 2013, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 7, 2013, at Tifton’s First Assembly of God. Rev. John Thomas and Dr. Danny Ray will officiate with burial to follow in Tift Memorial Gardens. Zack Chung, Mark Hand, Bryce Abbott, Cagney Harnage, Stevie Pritchett and Joe Scarberry will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Byron Perry Sunday school class at Tifton’s First Assembly of God. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 6, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Mr. Harnage will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Harnage was born on January 29, 1927 in Lakeland and was the son of Henry Joseph Harnage, Sr. and Ethel Morris Harnage, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Ellie Alemena Harnage; one son, Joseph Henry Harnage; one step-daughter, Frances Romell Baldree; one brother; four sisters and one granddaughter, Tina Pritchett. He was a retired truck driver and a retired security guard from Orgill. He was a member of Tifton’s First Assembly of God. He was a member of the V.F.W. in Tifton and had lived his whole life in Tifton. He enjoyed fishing and loved working in the yard. He loved all his family, especially his grandkids.
Mr. Harnage is survived by his wife, Lillian Maybelle Ray Harnage of Tifton; one son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Darrie Harnage of Tifton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret Ann and Gary Webb of Omega and Tammy Elizabeth and Steve Pritchett of Ty Ty; seven step-children; 25 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.
