Obituary

Vivian Porter White, 94, of Fitzgerald, formerly of Carrollton, Georgia, died March 31, 2013 at Palemon Gaskins Memorial Nursing Home in Ocilla.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Friday, April 5, 2013 at Lowell United Methodist Church, Lowell, Georgia with the Rev. Timothy Constien and the Rev. B.J. Funk officiating. Interment will follow in the Lowell Community Cemetery in Lowell, Georgia. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Wednesday evening at 132 Martha Street, Fitzgerald and from 6 to 8 Thursday evening at Almon Funeral Home in Carrollton.

Mrs. White was born June 4, 1918, in Heard County, Georgia to the late James Madison and Kate Masdon Porter. She was homemaker, a former Red Cross volunteer and loved square dancing. A member of the Lowell United Methodist Church, she was active in the United Methodist Women and played the hand bells.

She is survived by a daughter: Rachel White Peavey of Fitzgerald; son: Larry Zane White of Russellville, Alabama; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters: Bessie Williamson of Carrollton and Martha Arrington of Newnan, Georgia and one brother: Cecil “Pat” Porter of Conyers. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, three brothers, son-in-law: Wayne Peavey and a great-grandchild.
