Methuen- Louise T. (Shea) Flynn 93 of Methuen, died March 27 at the Nevins Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in 1919 in Quincy MA, daughter of Michael Shea and Mary Agnes (Shortle).She was the wife of the late John H. Flynn Sr.
Louise graduated from Quincy High School, class of 1937, and the Mass School of Physical Therapy. During World War II, Louise served her country as a member of the United States Marine Corps where she trained and worked as an aviation machinist mate.
Louise married John Flynn of Concord, Ma. in 1947. In 1960 Louise and John moved from Wakefield MA with their three children to their new home in Methuen Ma.
For over 50 years, Louise was an active supporter of her community and church. She was proudest of her fundraising work over many years towards the building of the Methuen Senior Center. Louise served as secretary on the Methuen Council of Aging, was an original member of the Happy Hearts Choral Group, and was awarded the Exchange Club Senior of the Year in 1995. Every day, for over 50 years, Louise flew the American flag outside her home on the flagpole her husband John had built for her.
She is survived by her daughters Donna L. Flynn of Montreal, Theresa M. Flynn and her husband Ian Hallihan of Merrimack, NH, her son John H. Flynn Jr. and his wife Donna of Newport RI., her grandchildren Griffin Flynn (Lauren), Sean Flynn (Marjorie), Jake Flynn, Stephane Flynn Cote and Michaela Cote, her new great grandson Jack B. Flynn, and many much loved nieces and nephews.
Friends and relatives may call Wednesday April 3rd from 4-7pm at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home 233 Lawrence St. Methuen MA 01844. A funeral mass will be held on April 4th at 11am at Saint Monica’s Church in Methuen. Burial will take place at a later time. In lieu of flowers donations in Louise’s honor may be made to Henry C. Nevins Nursing Home 10 Ingalls Court Methuen MA 01844 or Methuen Senior Activity Center 77 Lowell St. Methuen MA 01844.
