Julia A. Mantere, age 86, a life long resident of Woburn, passed away Friday morning fllowing a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Oliver A. Mantere. Born and raised in Woburn, she was the daughter of the late Julia and Martin Flaherty.
Julia attended Woburn schools as a young child and worked for many years with the Sylvania Co. of Woburn. Devoted to her family, She enjoyed time with her grandchildren and also enjoyed knitting and working in her yard. In addition to her late husband and parents, Julia is also preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Maguire and Elizabeth Flaherty. She is survived by her daughter Julia “Judy” Bessett and her husband Richard of Derry, NH. She is also survived by her loving granddaughters Danielle Bessett of New York City, NY and Michelle Bessett of Marlboro. She is further survived by her sisters Gladys Callahan and Theresa Gately of Woburn, Doris Matta of Medford, brothers Albert Flaherty of Burlington and Leo Flaherty of Everett.
Funeral from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home 60 Pleasant St. Woburn, Monday, at 9:30 AM. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Charles Church, 280 Main St. Woburn, at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday 4 thru 8 . Services will conclude with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Woburn.
