Susanne L. (Lyons) Gentile age 92, of North Easton formerly of Brockton, died Saturday March 30, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family after a period of failing health. She was the loving wife of the late Vincent Gentile who died in 1990. Sue was born in Brockton a daughter of the late George and Mildred Alice (Lyons) Frink. Upon the death of her mother, Sue was raised by her grandparents Michael and Ann (Maguire) Lyons. She remained a longtime resident of Brockton before moving to N. Easton in 2006.
Sue was a 1938 graduate of Brockton High School and remained active on the reunion committee. She also graduated from Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in Boston and enjoyed a longtime career in the Plymouth County Probate Court system. She retired as a legal secretary for the late Honorable Harry Stone and Francis Murphy.
Sue had been a member of the Twentieth Century Catholic Club and served as president for several terms. She was also past president of the St. Patrick’s Ladies Sodality and was a member of the Legal Secretaries Association. In her free time she enjoyed knitting and making afghans for others, solving crossword puzzles and most importantly spending time with her family.
Sue is survived by her three devoted daughters Susanne M. Costigan of Brockton wife of the late Edward; Patricia A. Gentile of North Easton with whom she made her home and Nancy E. Gentile and her partner Alice Williams of Lakeville. She was the grandmother of Emily and Lexie Williams of Lakeville.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Tuesday 4-8 pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home on Wednesday at 9 am for a funeral Mass in Holy Cross Church, South Easton at 10 am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton.
