Mary E. (Donovan) Carr, passed away peacefully with her children at her side on March, 29, 2013 after a long illness. She was a mother, nurse and world traveler. Born in 1925 in Brighton, she married Robert Carr from Charlestown in 1958. He predeceased her in 2003. She was sister to Daniel, Jerome, Alice, Katherine, Jack and Teresa. Mary graduated from Boston City School of Nursing in 1946, and returned to college in later life, graduating from Harvard in 1992 with a degree in liberal arts, extension studies. She raised her six children in Milton and Scituate, and devoted much of her retirement to traveling the world to welcome her grandchildren. Wherever it was, Massachusetts, Kenya, England or Brazil, the arrival of a grandchild was sure to bring Mary knocking on the door. Deeply mourned by her children; Paul Carr, Diane Picardi, Michael Carr, Marylou Carr, Ann Dugas and Christina Zaveri. Her sons-in-law; Ralph, Riyaz, David and Alan, her daughter-in-law; Tricia and loving Nana to her fifteen grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mary's Funeral Mass at St. Elizabeth's Church, 350 Reedsdale Road, Milton, Friday morning, April 5, 2013 at 10 A.M. Visiting hours at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home, 326 Granite Avenue, Milton, Thursday April 4, 2013 from 3 - 7 P.M. Interment at Milton Cemetery.
