Obituary

Robert D. Goode, 86, of Medway died March 29 in his home.
He was the husband of the late Mary A. (Waldron) Goode who died in 1986.
Born in Jamaica Plain, October 24, 1926, the son of the late Leo C. and Wilhelmina (Schwenderman) Goode, Mr. Goode was raised in Jamaica Plain and Charlestown and had been a resident of Medway since 1960.
Mr. Goode was a graduate of Charlestown High School, class of 1945, in the Electrical Program and he also attended Franklin Institute.
Mr. Goode worked as a foreman for the International Brothers of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 103 since 1959.
Mr. Goode was an active member of the Medway community.
He had been the coordinator of the St. Joseph’s band and color guard for 12 years, earning him the “God and Youth Award” in 1973. This award is the highest award granted by the Boston Archdiocese for his involvement working with youth.
He was the past commander of the Medway VFW Post 1526 and spent many years putting up and taking down flags displayed around town for Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day observances.
He was also a member of the American Legion and Franklin Lodge of Elks.
He had been a member of the board of the Medway Council on Aging, the Memorial Day Committee, and a member of the Triad from the Sherriff’s Department.
Bob served for over 20 years as a member of the Medway Call Fire Department and later worked for years repairing the fire-alarm system in town.
He had also been the Assistant Wire Inspector for the Town of Medway.
Mr. Goode served in the Army during World War II and attained the rank of Technician Fifth Grade.
He is survived by his daughter Roberta Boswell of Medway, his granddaughter Mary Casper of Medway and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday April 3 from the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 3 Barber Street in Medway at 9:15 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church at 10:00.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Medway.
Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the Medway Fire & EMS Association, 44 Milford Street, Medway, MA 02053.
