Obituary

Mr. Edward White Richardson, Jr., a resident of Woburn and beloved husband of the late Ruth M. (McGaw) Richardson, died at the Wingate at Reading Nursing Center on Thursday morning, March 28, 2013. He was 84 years old.
Born in Syracuse, New York, on May 19, 1928, Ed was the beloved son of the late Edward W., Sr. and Golden V. (Lombard) Richardson. Mr. Richardson was a graduate of Medford High School, class of 1946. Following graduation, Ed entered the Army on September 27, 1946 at Ft. Devens. He received his honorable discharge from Ft. Lawton, Washington on March 17, 1948. While in the Military, Mr. Richardson worked as a Military Police Officer in Trieste, Italy and was a qualified M-1 Marksman. He attained the rank of Private First Class and was awarded the WWII Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal. After leaving the Army, Mr. Richardson attended and graduated from Suffolk University in 1952. Ed was employed by The Hartford Insurance Company as a Claims Supervisor for many years.
Ed will be missed by his loving children; Edward W. Richardson, III, of Tokyo, Japan, J. Thomas and his wife Lisa Richardson of Billerica, Cathy Richardson and her husband John P. Dalone of Stoneham and Julie E. and her husband Joel J. Magliozzi of Medford, grandchildren; Jillian, Tyler and Nolan Richardson, Jared Dalone and Hailey, Sophia and Matteo Magliozzi, sister; Leta Benjamin of Burlington, sister-in-law; Janet Richardson of Pomfret, Connecticut and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Lewis and Donald Richardson.
His funeral service was celebrated in the First Baptist Church, 29 Oakland Street, Medford, Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at 9:30 AM. Many relatives and friends respectfully attended. Visiting hours were held in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Monday, April 1, 2013, from 4 to 8 PM. Interment was held in the Center Cemetery, North Hampton, New Hampshire. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ed’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
