Robert Dinsmore Adcock, 83, of Suwannee, Florida died Thursday, March 28, 2013, at North Florida Regional Hospital in Gainesville, Florida. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Rev. Fred Edwards will officiate with burial to follow. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 6, 2013, from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Adcock was born on July 28, 1929 in Eldorado and was the son of Alvin Neal Adcock, Sr. and Florence Shannon Adcock, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Debra Adcock Pappas; four brothers, Joe Adcock, Jim Adcock, A. N. Adcock Jr. and Donald Adcock; and two sisters, Sara A. Moore and Faye A. Berkeypile. He was a former Tifton businessman, having been vice-president of Sun Belt Plantations, Inc. and Adcock Pecan Company for 45 years. After retiring in 1991, he and his wife, Carolyn, moved to their home in Suwannee, Florida. Robert was a graduate of the University of Georgia with a degree in Economics. He was a member of Eldorado Baptist Church and a United States Army veteran.
Mr. Adcock is survived by his wife, Carolyn Weldon Adcock of Suwannee, Florida; a daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly Adcock Willis and Jeff Willis of Savannah; two grandchildren, Claire Willis of Washington, D.C. and Jefferson Willis of Oxford, Mississippi; and numerous nephews and nieces, including one special nephew, who was like his son, Neal Adcock of Tifton and Jacksonville, Florida.
