Sidney Lovett Eaton 98Eaton, Sidney Lovett of Westwood, formerly of Dedham, Needham and Sargentville, ME, died on Tuesday June 24, after a brief illness at 98 years of age. Born in Syracuse N.Y. Sidney was a graduate of Harvard university class of 1927 and Syracuse University 1931. Mr. Eaton was a retired teacher of English at Loomis School, Noble and Greenough School, Beaver Country Day School, Groton School and was a pianist, a painter and a poet. A WW11 Naval Veteran, he received the Soldiers Medal for service in the Liberation of Shanghai, China from the Japanese on the last day of the war. For many years he was a reader on the College Boards English Compositions Test. Mr. Eaton was a member of the Friday Night Club, The Copley Society and the Loomis Schools Board of Trustee’s as a graduate Trustee. He attended and sang in the Choir at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church of Dedham. Son of the late Professor Horace and Emily Eaton, Sidney was the brother of the late Rebecca Wedgwood, Robert Eaton and Elizabeth Boys. He was husband of the late Jessie (Adkins) and the late Eleanor (Gibbs) Eaton. He is survived by his son Sidney L Eaton Jr. of Portland OR. Grandfather of Stuart and Bruce Eaton. Step Grandfather of Carolyn Babtkis and great grand father of Myles B Eaton, Zachary and Calee Babtkis.Memorial Services will be held on Thursday Aug. 19th at 2:00 PM from St.Paul’s Episcopal Church of Dedham. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Loomis School, Noble’s and Greenough or to Harvard University. Arrangements be the Eaton Funeral Home of Needham
