James E. Tarvit, 93, of Worcester died Tuesday, March 26th in UMASS Memorial Medical Center – University Campus. He was predeceased by his wife, Lola (Harris) Tarvit. He leaves two sons, Kenneth Tarvit and Howard Tarvit both of Worcester; a daughter, Laurie Sterns of West Rutland, VT; a brother, Thomas Tarvit of Worcester; 13 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, James Tarvit and two brothers, William and Samuel Tarvit.
He was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia the son of James and Arabella (MacDonald) Tarvit. James was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II. He worked for Howard Brothers Manufacturing for over 50 years as a card setter, retiring in 1985. Mr. Tarvit was a member of Wesley Methodist Church, VFW Post 15022 and American Legion Post 0462. His favorite activity was to go to yard sales.
