Obituary

Loretta E. (Plouffe) Libby, 82, of Mashantucket, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at her home.

She was born in New London, on June 23, 1930, the daughter of Arthur J. and Elizabeth (George) Plouffe. A respected elder of the Mashantucket Pequot Indian Tribe, she served in many capacities, most notably as a Tribal Council member and for over 15 years served on the Housing Authority. In her spare time, she was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and NASCAR fan (Dale Earnhardt Jr.). She also enjoyed traveling, going on cruises, and spending time with her great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Deborah Frankovich of Mashantucket and Richard Mark Libby of Mashantucket; her granddaughter, Stacy Frankovich; and her great-grandchildren, MacKenzie, Jacob, and Jak.

She was predeceased by a great-grandson, Zachary and her siblings.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl St., historic downtown Mystic. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday at the Mashantucket Tribal Museum. Burial will follow at the Tribal Burial Ground.
