Warren W. Lumb, 82, of Methuen, died unexpectedly Friday, March 22, 2013 at Cape Canaveral Hospital in Cocoa Beach, Florida.
Warren, son of the late Whiteley and Lottie T. (Lyman) Lumb, was born in Methuen on September 14, 1930. He graduated from the Edward F. Searles High School in Methuen and received his Bachelors Degree from Boston University. Warren was employed with Raytheon in Andover for 35 years prior to his retirement in 1992. He was a veteran of the United States Navy.
Warren also known as “Lefty” was a former member of the Merrimack Golf Course in Methuen. He was an active member of St. Theresa’s Rainbow Club. For many years, he vacationed with his family during the summer months on Plum Island and for the past 10 years he enjoyed the winter months in Florida with his wife and friends. He and his wife just a few years ago celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed life. He was always a spectator at all family sporting events including his grandson’s football games and granddaughter’s dance recitals for many years.
He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of nearly 53 years, Maureen C. (Hannagan) Lumb; his daughter, Cheryl A. Caira and her husband Kevin of Wilmington; his son, Scott W. Lumb and his wife Christine of Lawrence; his sister, Shirley T. Bevin of Methuen; two grandchildren, Amy and David Caira and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Barbara Desrocher of Methuen.
Visiting hours will be held Monday, April 1, 2013 form 4-8 pm in the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St., Methuen. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Good Counsel - St. Augustine Chapel, 124 Ames St., Lawrence on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 11 AM. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen.
