Augusta, GA – Mrs. Faye Dunaway Jackson, 86, beloved wife of 65 years, to J. Clarence “Jack” Jackson entered into rest on March 22, 2013 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at the graveside at 2:00 PM on Monday, March 25, 2013 at Westover Memorial Park with Rev. Gary DeMore and Dr. Buddy Holbrook officiating.
Mrs. Jackson was a native Augustan and the daughter of the late Clyde Dunaway and the late Mae Cox Dunaway Gray. She attended Monte Sano Elementary School and Tubman School for Girls. She was particularly proud that she completed four years of instruction in Latin with Miss Ruth McAuliffe. She enjoyed taking gym classes, stunts and pyramids, and social with Mrs. Henri Price at the YWCA. In fact, she met her future husband at social!
Mrs. Jackson attended Augusta Junior College and graduated from her beloved Georgia State College for Women with a B.S. in biology and chemistry and a teaching degree.
Mrs. Jackson was past president of the Augusta Area Pharmaceutical Association Auxiliary, former board member of the YWCA, PTA president of William Robinson School, member and former president of the Iris Garden Club, chairman of the Wedding Guild of her church and former teacher for the Oconee County and Richmond County Boards of Education. She was a member of St. John United Methodist Church where she attended the John Minter Sunday School Class.
Survivors in addition to her husband are two daughters, Carol (Bill) McGahee and Fran Jackson of Augusta and one son, Lee (Gloria) Jackson of Canton, Georgia; two grandchildren, Jackson McGahee of North Augusta, SC and Mary Beth McGahee of Macon, Georgia; a sister, Frances (John) Seago of West Des Moines, Iowa; a step-sister, Mary Lou Gray Boss of Murphreesboro, TN.
The family would like to thank Dr. Abdulla M. Abdulla, her cardiologist, who with Divine assistance gave us an additional 25 years.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the John Minter Sunday School Class.
