EAST TAUNTON – Antonia M. (Costa) Araujo, longtime East Taunton resident, died at the Kindred – Crawford Nursing Center in Fall River on March 22, 2013.
She was 83.
Born in Elizabeth, NJ, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary P. (Nobre) Costa.
Educated in Dighton schools, Mrs. Araujo graduated from Dighton High School in 1947, and later, the Taunton State Hospital School of Nursing.
Employed by Taunton State Hospital for 26 years, she retired in 1975.
A communicant of Holy Family Church and member of the Cape Verdean Association, Mrs. Araujo leaves 3 sons, Gerald Araujo of Taunton, Daniel Araujo of E. Taunton, and Stephen Araujo of E. Freetown; a daughter, Lynnette Fitzgerald of Fall River; two brothers, John and Anthony Costa, both of Freetown; a sister, Mary Araujo of Taunton; 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also the sister of the late Arthur Costa.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Wednesday, March 27th at 8:45 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at Holy Family Church, E. Taunton at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. John Cemetery, New Bedford.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 26th from 5 to 8 p.m.
