Obituary

Blanche "Bunny" (Masson) Gaj, 89, of Fairhaven died Wednesday March 20, 2013 suddenly at Rhode Island Hospital. She was the wife of the late Edward Gaj.

Born in Fairhaven, the daughter of the late Alphonse and Berthe (Damm) Masson, she lived in Fairhaven for most of her life.

She was a communicant of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church.

Mrs. Gaj was formerly employed as a baker for the Fairhaven School Department, and had previously worked as a stitcher at States Nightwear.

She enjoyed traveling, gardening, knitting, crocheting, and cross-stitching.

Survivors include her three children, Edward Gaj, Jr. and his wife Patricia of Andover, Carolyn Cooper and her husband Ken of Westport, and Michael Gaj and his companion Sandy Pontbriand of Fairhaven; a brother, Roger Masson of Acushnet; a sister, Doris Gallagher of New Bedford; five grandchildren, Maureen, Kerry, and Evan Gaj, Ashley and Haylee Cooper; and nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Jill Domingos and Camille Loria.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, New Bedford. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Sunday from 2-5 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd., Route 6, Mattapoisett.
