Obituary

Mae (Mendes) Pina, 83, of New Bedford died March 22, 2013 unexpectedly at Massachusetts General Hospital.
She was the wife of the late Anthony Pina.
Born in Freetown, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Lopes) Mendes, she lived in New Bedford most of her life.
Mrs. Pina was a member of the International Church of the Nazarene.
She was formerly employed as a stitcher at local textile mills. Mrs. Pina later received her Associates Degree from Bristol Community College and was later employed by the New Bedford Unemployment Office.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and doing crossword puzzles.
The family would like to thank St. Luke's Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital for the excellent care that Mae received.
Survivors include her 4 children, Michael Monteiro and his wife Melinda, Brenda Harrison and her husband Edmund, Steven Monteiro and his wife Linda and Dena Pina, all of New Bedford; 3 sisters, Adeline Delgado of St. Cloud, FL, Cecelia Rose and Dorothy Burr, both of New Bedford; 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late George Mendes, Joseph Mendes, Jr., Alfred Mendes and Diana Wheatley.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 25th at 10 AM in the International Church of the Nazarene. Visiting hours will be on Sunday, March 24th from 4-7 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
